ChildPlayWorks offers professional development training workshops for all those who work with children (and their families). We also offer professional development for play therapists in the form of webinars and/or teleconference presentations.

"An Introduction to Child-Centered Play Therapy" 

This popular 3-day professional development workshop offers course participants an introduction to Child-Centered Play Therapy, with this being a very unique, deeply heartfelt, relational way of being with children. This workshop also holds credits for Stage 1 of the ChildPlayWorks Clinical Play Therapy Training Programme for those who wish to apply and who meet the entry criteria.

"The Wonderful World of Child-Centered Play Therapy" 

This 5-day professional development workshop explores the theoretical model and philosophical framework of CCPT and it covers a basic understanding of the dynamics and importance of the unique, therapeutic CCPT relationship. Facilitative, relationship-building ways of responding to children and core CCPT skills are introduced in role play demonstrations and these are further developed in experiential role plays. These skills are then able to be used to strengthen relationships with children in most external working contexts.

This 5-day workshop also becomes Stage 1 of the ChildPlayWorks Clinical Play Therapy Training Programme for those who meet the entry criteria.

"Trauma and Attachment"

A 1-day professional development workshop with Dr Wendy Kelly, focussing on the impact of trauma on early attachment relationships and how this affects children’s view of themselves and other people, their development and their social and emotional well-being. It will also cover theory and provide ideas and techniques for understanding the issues facing maltreated and traumatised children and a practical method of working out what the child needs to learn from current relationships, both caregiving and therapeutic. The types of therapy useful for this population will be outlined but the seminar will not cover how to deliver specific therapy.

"AEAI: Adult Exploration of Attachment Interview"

Andrea Broadhurst and Heather Chambers present this popular 1-day professional development workshop in which they teach a therapeutic interview to assist parents in their relationship with their co-parent and/or their children. The interview is designed to reveal to the individual their early relational learning, which drives their feelings, responses and behaviours in key relationships.
